About this course

Digital On-Ramps is packed with engaging lessons that hone the social-emotional skills 4th and 5th graders need to use technology safely and wisely. Like our popular middle school digital literacy curriculum—Cyber Civics—these in-classroom lessons are fun and easy to teach. This research-based program meets national educational standards (CASEL Social-Emotional Competencies, ISTE Tech Standards, and Common Core ELA Standards) as it prepares students for the challenges of online life.

Designed by teachers for teachers

Inside you’ll find entertaining videos featuring our intrepid owl mascot who is just learning to use the Internet too! Whether you show these videos in the classroom or not, you can use our lesson plans to deliver these lessons in the classroom (or at home!). Each includes an engaging hands-on activity plus student activity worksheets. Lessons sometimes include homework.

Why Digital Literacy + SEL go hand-in-hand

In a meta-analysis of 213 school-based SEL (Social Emotional Learning) programs, participants demonstrated significantly improved social and emotional skills, attitudes, and behavior, as well as an 11-percentile-point gain in academic performance. The social-emotional competencies—Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making—are in high demand online too! These are the skills students desperately need in order to avoid the pitfalls of online life and to know how to engage, safely and wisely, with the flood of information (and people!) they will encounter online.

Subscription Cost

The cost for a school to subscribe to Digital On-Ramps is $499 ($199/annual renewal) and includes 36+ lesson plans, student activities, videos, and full support. If you are a current Cyber Civics subscriber, small school, home schooler, or district, please contact us for your special pricing: support@cybercivics.com.

Why Cyber Civics?

For over a decade, schools and home school families across the US and internationally have used Cyber Civics to teach students how to become ethical, safe, and productive digital citizens. Lessons are developmentally-appropriate and sequence topics in a way that makes sense of a complex digital world. Schools that use Cyber Civics preempt digital issues and problems that plague many schools today. It is essential to equip students with the skills to thrive online.
